CDC: Number of MA counties at ‘high’ risk for COVID spread falls to 1

BOSTON — Just one Massachusetts county is at “high” risk of community spread of COVID-19.

New data from the Centers for Disease Control shows Hampden County in the red. To the north, Hampshire County was labeled yellow, or “medium” risk.

Dukes County is also considered in the yellow, according to the CDC. Everywhere else in the state has been labeled green, or “low” risk.

The most recent report from the Massachusetts Department of Health, released on June 17, shows the state’s seven-day positivity rate is now at 5.62 percent, with 1,563 new, confirmed cases. Eight deaths were reported June 17 by DPH. The average age of patients who died was 79.

Thirty-four patients were listed in ICU, with 14 patients intubated.

The city of Boston still has free walk-through testing for COVID-19 through June at the Anna Cole Community Center.
