Gunman caught on camera shooting man in Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Mass. — Police are searching for the suspect caught on camera shooting a man in Lawrence Tuesday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. near the intersection of Lawrence and Arlington Streets. A witness captured two men involved in a physical fight, before the suspect fired a shot.

"It was boom, that’s it. We saw all the blood," Fiora, a person who works nearby and asked not to share her last name, said. "We were able to see the gun on the floor, it was going everywhere. It was facing this way, then the barber shop. It was facing everywhere."

The victim, a 46-year-old Lawrence man, was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He suffered a gunshot wound to his leg, but is expected to recover.

Police believe the suspect and victim know each other and this was not a random act of violence.

"It looked like a fight going on in the parking lot. Maybe a traffic incident may have led to that fight between the two, and maybe some history between the two," Lawrence Police Chief Roy Vasque said. "We hope to make an arrest as quickly as tomorrow."

The suspect ran down the street and got into a waiting car. The car is a 2008 white Infiniti M35 sedan with Massachusetts license plate 5JY925. It was last seen in Methuen. If you see that car, call Lawrence Police.
