'Keep Attleboro Beautiful' hosts second annual Great Attleboro Clean-up

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — "Keep Attleboro Beautiful" hosted its second annual Great Attleboro Clean-Up to pick up trash Saturday.

Nearly 200 volunteers collected garbage bags of debris, trash and litter. The group used the time to clean up along roadsides, parks and other public spaces.

"It's sad to say, but you see stuff like this everywhere around town, so hopefully we can make a dent," volunteer Eric Westburg said.

Some volunteers used the day as a teaching moment for their children.

"Just to show my son a good way of life, and it's nice to give back and clean up the community and help others," volunteer Jackie Robinson said.

Others used it as a time for everyone to learn about their local environment.

"This is a learning experience," Westburg said. "We show them how bad it looks when you leave your trash around and there probably wasn't any one person saying, 'I'm going to make this whole area look bad.' They probably said this one piece of trash doesn't matter, but it really does when people think that way."
