Investigation into police sergeant led to Wellesley track coach, says source

ATTLEBORO, Mass. — An investigation into an Attleboro police sergeant helped FBI agents also discover a Wellesley High School assistant track coach's alleged possession of child porn, according to a source.

Police Sgt. Richard Woodhead was charged with possessing child pornography in the beginning of April and has since resigned.

Sources told Boston 25 News they found emails between coach Walter Johnson, 69, and Woodhead. In court documents, they "were able to locate graphic sexual conversations between the subject and others about having sex with minors as well as soliciting others to send child pornography. "

The language is so graphic Boston 25 News won't be posting the full court documents.

Authorities said Johnson would meet people through Craigslist, mostly men, under the name "Mr. Hungry Man" and set up a corresponding email account.

Johnson graduated from Harvard University, and worked as a track coach at the Ivy League school for 24 years, before coaching in at Wellesley High School.
