WORCESTER, Mass. — Several Worcester County school districts, including Worcester itself, are following up Wednesday’s snow day with a delayed opening Thursday morning.

That move will give crews added time to continue clearing snow and ice from roadways.

The snow moved in shortly after the morning commute Wednesday, and the problems on the roads began almost immediately.

"It's been crazy. Spin outs and all that once the snow started," Greg Hagan of Perfection Towing said.
In Framingham, one driver crashed into a utility pole causing wires to fall onto his car trapping him for an hour. The driver says he was cut off by another driver and then lost control, his father told Boston 25 News.

Another crash on the Mass. Pike near Route 30 involved a truck carrying several cars and at least one other vehicle.

After that crash, traffic on the major highway was snarled for hours.

The snow transitioned to freezing rain for many around 3 p.m. Wednesday, but it turned back to snow before it moved out of the area early Thursday morning.
