'I swam from Hopkinton to Boston': Marathon Sports releases new shirt

BOSTON — Runners can say they ran the 2018 Boston Marathon, but it may have felt like they were swimming with the torrential rain throughout the day.

The Massachusetts-based store Marathon Sports released a shirt Friday for those who felt their Boston Marathon experience was different than past years, with the words "I swam from Hopkinton to Boston" showcased on the front of the shirt.

The shirt features the date of the 122nd running of the Boston Marathon on the front, showcasing a historic installment of the race.

The rain caused trouble for runners, evident by the fact that Desiree Linden, the women's division winner, clocked the slowest time for a winner since 1978.

The weather also caused the Red Sox annual Patriots Day game to be postponed, the first time their Marathon Day game has been canceled since 1984.
