WESTFORD, Mass. — Emergency crews shut down I-495 in both directions through Westford Tuesday morning after some sort of electrical fire in the area.
Fire crews were on scene spraying the transformer with water as smoke and fire could be seen rising from it.

Traffic backed up for miles as traffic had to be kept from going under the wires completely. Some vehicles were being turned around on the highway and sent out of the area.
The road was re-opened around 2 p.m. Tuesday.
