Husband charged with murder in death of Lynn teacher

REVERE, Mass. — Police in Revere have arrested a man they say murdered his wife over the weekend.

Andrew MacCormack, 29, of is charged with murder for the death of Vanessa MacCormack.

"The evidence suggests that her murder was a crime of domestic violence, committed in the very place where she should have been safest, her own home. It was critical during the past several days to withhold certain information as we gathered the facts and evidence, and we're extremely grateful for the cooperation of witnesses and partner agencies who helped us build this case,” Suffolk County District Attorney Dan Conley said.

Police say Andrew MacCormack called 911 around 3:30 p.m. Saturday and when officers arrived they found Vanessa dead with obvious signs of physical trauma.

According to the Medical Examiner, Vanessa had suffered blunt force trauma to the head, sharp force injuries to the neck and asphyxiation.

DA Conley said it appeared as if the killer attempted to clean the crime scene and dispose of related items.

The investigation included review of private and public surveillance footage, interviews with witnesses and a search warrant by Revere Police.

Monday night, before the arrest was made, Vanessa's sister Angela Masucci sent Boston 25 News reporter Litsa Pappas a message about her sister's life.

"She loved us all so much. Although she was only 30 and she was robbed of her future, she lived a happy life. She had the wedding of her dreams, her dream job (teacher), traveled, went out to eat, had the perfect baby, and loved her husband with every ounce of her soul. I hope for my sister to be remembered, as a beautiful mother, sister, wife, cousin, daughter, and teacher."

Andrew MacCormack is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday in Chelsea District Court.
