Horse rescued from ocean in Westport

WESTPORT, Mass. — It was an unusual rescue for Westport authorities called in to help a horse stranded in the ocean.

A woman was riding the horse on a beach on Gooseberry Island Tuesday when she was thrown and the horse ventured out into deep water.

Firefighters got in and were able to safely lead the horse back to the beach.

The animal did not appear to be hurt and was brought back home.
