• Hearing to determine fate of Prouty Garden at Boston Children's Hospital

BOSTON - The Suffolk Superior Court will hear a case Tuesday that could stop a billion dollar expansion of Boston Children's Hospital.

A group is fighting the expansion because it means the destruction of the Prouty Garden, a quiet space that patients, families and even hospital personnel have used as an escape from the stress, grief and pain tied to serious illness.

The hospital began removing the garden in December.

Tuesday’s hearing will determine if the group's lawsuit has any merit.

The hospital expansion was approved by the department of health.
