• Hearing screams, vacationing firefighter rescues man from freezing water in Yarmouth

YARMOUTH, Mass. - Two people saved a man after he fell into the water in Yarmouth Thursday.

Yarmouth Police said they received a call around 8:45 a.m. Thursday about a man who fell in the water and was pulled out.

A preliminary investigation concludes Jeffrey Viamari, 34, was checking on a boat at Skippy's Pier 1 Marina when he slipped on the ice and fell into Parkers River.

Viamari managed to hold onto a rope that was tied to the dock.

William Pagan Jr., 43, a Lawrence firefighter, heard Viamari screaming for help from his room at the River View Resort. He told the front desk to call 911 and ran over to the marina with the hotel clerk. The two managed to pull Viamari out of the water.

Viamari was brought to the Cape Cod Hospital, and officials said he was conscious and alert during the entire event.
