Hearing delayed for man charged in deadly hit-and-run in Allston

BOSTON — The court hearing for man accused in a hit-and-run that killed an 80-year-old man was delayed until next month.

Phocian Fitts appeared in court on Monday for the brief hearing. Prosecutors asked the judge for more time, and the judge agreed.

Fitts confessed to the crime in an exclusive interview with Boston 25 News right after the crash.

That confession helped lead to his arrest.

Fitts is charged with hitting Ted Schwalb as he was crossing Commonwealth Avenue in Allston earlier this month.

Fitts told us he was driving too quickly, but that "people hit-and-run people all the time."
