• Haverhill man dead after being found under pinned tree

HAVERHILL, Mass. - A Haverhill man was killed by a fallen tree while clearing branches with his son.

Sixty-year-old Michael Sughrue was found pinned under a tree around 5 p.m. Sunday after a snapped tree fell on top of him. He was in his backyard on Hoyt Road when a large tree he was working to clear landed on him.

The tree was leaning against a nearby tree for support before eventually giving out and falling onto Sughrue.
