BOSTON — Police in Boston are investing after a shooting near Boston Common that left one person with life-threatening injuries.
Police initially said they have two suspects in custody, but during a news conference Tuesday night they referred to them as "persons of interest." A third person was also being questioned by police.
"The shooting was going on between groups of people who knew each other They're the ones putting their lives at risk. But it's the people that are around them. the random stray bullets that go flying around the city of Boston is what I can't stand for anymore," Mayor Marty Walsh said.
One of the people in custody fled the scene on foot and made it onto the tracks in Park Street station causing delays on both the Red and Green lines.

Students and faculty on the Emerson College campus were ordered to shelter in place in response to the shooting, but that has been lifted.
The victim is a 19-year-old male who is in critical condition at Tufts Medical Center.
