2 dead after garbage truck, pickup truck collide in Everett

EVERETT, Mass. — Authorities say two people were killed and two others were injured in a crash involving a pickup truck and a city-owned trash truck in Everett.

The crash occurred at about 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on Broadway, one of the main thoroughfares through the city just north of Boston.

Responding police found two passengers of the pickup, a man and woman, suffering from critical injuries. Both were taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The driver of the pickup was taken to a hospital with serious injuries while the driver of trash truck was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

No names were released and the crash remains under investigation
