Former employee sends concerning email, trespasses onto South Shore hospital

WEYMOUTH, Mass. - The South Shore Hospital is on high alert after a former employee sent out a concerning email to all staff and then trespassed onto hospital property.

There were plenty of extra police cars and increased security at the hospital's campus on Saturday afternoon, and officials said that visible presence will continue as long as it is necessary.

A hospital statement told Boston 25 News that the former employee went into the emergency department after sending the concerning email that left everyone on edge.

In an effort to calm their staff, the hospital sent a letter to staff on Friday alerting them about the incident and what measures are being taken to ensure everyone's safety. The statement said:

"South Shore Health System's Office of Public Safety continues to work closely with law enforcement to monitor a situation regarding a former employee. Arda Buharali, is believed to be responsible for sending an email Thursday which was widely disseminated to his former colleagues, and for making an unauthorized entry into our hospital's Emergency Department Thursday night.
As always, the safety and security of our colleagues, patients and visitors is our number one priority."

Buharali has been issued a no trespass order from police, but Weymouth Police said that, after reviewing his emails and social media posts, they found no reason to arrest him.
