Family of mother killed in Haverhill car crash looks for answers from police

HAVERHILL, Mass. – It’s only been four days since Niki Andrianakos was killed in a car crash while delivering for Giovanni’s Roast Beef and Pizza and the wounds are still very fresh for her family.

“I don’t feel like it’s real. I feel like I’m going call her tomorrow and she’s going to pick up the phone and be there. But she’s not,” her sister, Anthoula Andrianakos, said.

Niki had worked at Giovanni’s for seven years, ever since giving birth to her son.

“All she was doing was doing deliveries she was supposed to do. That’s what we do know, she was doing what she was supposed to do and it was not her fault,” her sister said.

Days after the deadly four-vehicle crash on Route 125 at Oxford Avenue in Haverhill, the Andrianakos family still waits for answers from investigators.

Last Friday began as a routine day for Niki, and a preliminary investigation shows she was potentially pushed into the path of a tractor-trailer.

“I’m just going to miss her. I lost a part of me, I don’t know why things like this happen,” her sister said.

As Anthoula and the rest of the family get ready to bury Niki at just 30 years old, they say they are trying to channel her courage and perseverance.

Niki’s roommate and best friend of 20 years, Tatum Stevenson, said she believes Niki would want everyone to push through the grief and rally around her son like she always did.

“She was a go getter if she had a task in front of her she was going to accomplish it her main goal was making sure her son was taken care of and she would’ve done anything,” Stevenson said.

The owner of Giovanni's has set up a GoFundMe page to help cover the cost of Niki's funeral and burial. Click here to learn more.

Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Wednesday, Jan. 3 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Kevin B. Comeau Funeral Home, 486 Main St., Haverhill. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at Holy Apostles Greek Orthodox Church, 156 Winter St., Haverhill. Burial will follow in Linwood Cemetery.
