Family begging for answers in Marine recruit's disappearance

BOSTON — A local family is begging for answers about a Marine recruit who disappeared six weeks ago.

Boston police and Naval investigators are now searching for that 21-year-old man who vanished in Roslindale.

Brancato’s relatives say Joey was training for the physical exam to join the Marines while staying in the basement of his recruiter’s home, a man whom we aren’t identifying, but who family members say Brancato viewed as a mentor.

“I think really looked up to this guy, thought he’s really what I want to be, I want to be a Marine,” said aunt Andrea Walke.

Brancato’s family say that dream may have led to his disappearance on Nov. 18, 2017.

Police confirm in the past weeks, they’ve searched woods and ponds in the area and Naval Criminal Investigative Services has searched and closed the recruiter’s office.

Brancato ‘s family members claim he’s stopped cooperating with investigators.

“We don’t want to say bad things about a person without evidence, but nothing about this feels right, nothing about it sounds right,” said a family member.

No one answered the door at the recruiter’s home when Boston 25 News went by, and his cell phone is turned off.

Brancato’s family is begging for answers from anyone that help bring Joey home.

“We’re not going to stop until we find him, he has many, many people that love and care about him,” said Walke.

Boston police have not named the recruiter as a person of interest, and will not confirm that homicide investigators are involved in the case.

Anyone with information should contact Boston police.
