Fallen officers honored in Boston's Run to Remember

BOSTON — Runners hit the pavement on Sunday morning for the annual Run to Remember.

Thousands of people participated in a run through historic downtown Boston to pay homage to first responders and law enforcement officers who lost their lives during the line of duty.

The Boston Police Club hosted the 14th half marathon and honored fallen Yarmouth Police Sergeant Sean Gannon before the race began.

Sgt. Gannon was shot and killed on April 12 while he and other officers were serving an arrest warrant at a home in Barnstable.

Sgt. Gannon's cruiser was at the start of the race and slowly took off during a moment of silence with lights flashing.

The proceeds from the race went back into the community to youth outreach programs and organizations like Cops for Kids.

Not only did officers from Boston participate, but officers from Los Angeles, New York City and Chicago took part, too.
