• Eighth-grader flown to hospital after getting hit by van in Acton

    ACTON, Mass. - An eighth-grade girl suffered serious injuries Friday morning when she was hit by a van in Acton.

    Few details have been released by officials, but police said they responded to reports of someone getting hit by a vehicle in the area of Main Street and Hayward Road just after 7 a.m.

    Police said the unidentified girl was in the crosswalk when she was hit by a van headed south.

    She received serious injuries and was taken to Boston Children’s Medical Center via medical helicopter.

    The crash remains under investigation.
