BOSTON — A student from East Boston High School has been arrested after officials say they found a weapon near school property.
Police say the gun was found and the student was arrested just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday. The student was identified as 20-year-old Keon Harris of Boston.
Boston Public Schools say the high school was not placed into safe mode because the incident happened off school property and was quickly resolved.

Boston Police tell Boston 25 News they recovered a firearm on White Street this morning.

Public school officials say the high school will increase the use of metal detection technology immediately.
Harris is expected appear in East Boston District Court on a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm Friday morning.
