CPSC outlines new high chair safety standards

The government has announced new standards for high chairs.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says there have been more than 1,800 reported incidents related to high chairs, including more than 270 injuries.

The CPSC will now require all high chairs, including those in restaurants, to have a three-point restraint system and mechanisms that improve the stability in the back of the chair.

Officials say most of the injuries stem from when kids try to climb in and out of the chair, causing it to tip over.

The new requirements take effect next year.
