Boston among 20 cities in running for Amazon's second headquarters

BOSTON — Amazon has narrowed its list to 20 locations for its second headquarters, and Boston made the cut.

Amazon said it would invest over $5 billion into the chosen city, and expects to create 50,000 high-paying jobs.

Boston 25 News has been following the story closely ever since Boston made its pitch to the media giant.

Amazon announced Thursday morning it narrowed the list of 238 proposals down to 20. Other cities that made the list include New York City, Philadelphia, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Denver and Los Angeles.

Worcester and Providence also submitted bids, but didn’t make the list.

Suffolk Downs in East Boston has emerged as the preferred site in Boston's bid.

Amazon hasn't said much about its timeline; only that it expects to make a decision in 2018.
