Boston 4th most expensive U.S. city for summer travel

BOSTON — From the Freedom trail to Fenway, there are a lot of attractions for tourists in Boston, but it's not a cheap trip.

According to Trip Advisor, Boston is the fourth most expensive city in the country to visit for a summer vacation – even beating New York City.

An independent researched firm complied the data for TripAdvisor TripIndex cities. It looked at the cost of a three-night vacation during the summer in 39 different tourist friendly cities. The ranking takes into account typical costs for two people, which includes a four-star hotel for three nights, a visit to three attractions, lunch each day, an Uber or taxi to and from dinner each day and dinner each day.

Here's how Boston fared:

Dinner (per day): $106
Uber: $30
Tour/ Activity (per day): $31
Hotel (per night): $409
Total for three days: $1,840

For comparison here is how much New Orleans, the cheapest city to visit,  costs:

Lunch (per day): $31
Dinner (per day): $103
Uber: $21
Tour/ Activity (per day): $10
Hotel (per night): $217
Total for three days: $1,148

Orlando ranked the most expensive, with the total coming to $2,217. Honolulu and Seattle came in second and third respectively. While New York city was more expensive in all aspects, except for the hotel when compared to Boston, which is how the Big Apple came in fifth place.
