Boston firefighter charged with years-long sexual abuse of child

BOSTON — BOSTON - A Boston firefighter has been held on $50,000 bail after he was accused of raping a child under 16 years old, according to court documents.

Samuel Perez, a firefighter who lives in West Roxbury, faces life in prison for one count of raping a child and one count of assault and battery.

The Boston Fire Department confirmed Perez, 38, was a firefighter assigned in 2011 to Engine Company 10 on Purchase Street.

The alleged abuse of the child, who was known to Perez, happened over the course of several years, according to a release from the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.

He has been ordered to remain on house arrest and stay away from children. Perez has also been stripped of his passport and ordered to stay away from the victim and any witnesses.
