Boston firefighter accused of sexually assaulting woman in JP firehouse

BOSTON -- A Boston Firefighter is on leave after he allegedly made unwanted and aggressive sexual advances on a woman inside the Jamaica Plain firehouse.

Investigators say 37-year-old David Sanchez is accused of exposing himself inside this firehouse on Center Street after attempting to force himself on a woman who told him no. It happened back on Jan. 14.

Boston 25 News is remaining vague about why the victim was at the firehouse to protect her identity in the sexual assault case.

That victim was able to get away and contacted police about the allegations.

Sanchez, of Hyde Park, was arrested months later, and last week, he was arraigned in West Roxbury Municipal Court.

“The Boston Fire Department takes these allegations very seriously and they warrant our full attention.  As a result, Firefighter Sanchez has been placed on administrative leave while this situation is adjudicated through the court system. We will continue to monitor this situation and take swift and appropriate action if and when it is necessary,” Boston Fire Commissioner Joseph Finn said in a written statement.

The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said Sanchez is free on personal recognizance on charges of assault and battery and indecent assault and battery. The judge ordered he stay away from the victim.

He is due back in court on June 13.
