Boston 25 Sports supports the Stearns family's annual Braintree fundraiser

BRAINTREE, Mass. — In Braintree Thursday, people hit the links for a great cause that's special to a member of our Boston 25 News family.

Today was the 30th Annual Arthur F. Stearns Memorial Golf Tournament and Fundraiser. It's named for Boston 25 Sports reporter Butch Stearns dad.

Each year, Butch and his family raise money for and recognize local families in need. This year’s recipient is a lifelong Braintree resident named Tommy Mahar, whose wife, Debbie, passed away in April.

In 1987, Butch's dad was killed by a drunk driver and the Stearns family hosts this event every year in his honor as a tribute.
