Black bear winds up in tree in Newton

NEWTON, Mass. — A black bear was found in a tree in Newton after the storms on Tuesday.

Newton Police tweeted out around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday night that there was a wildlife advisory after the bear had climbed up a tree on Centre Street.

Police say they believe the bear was in the area all day Tuesday, and their animal control officer received a voicemail about a bear spotted near Crystal Lake.

The advisory said to use caution and avoid the area, and a Newton Police officer was on standby for the situation.

The bear eventually made its way down the tree, and police asked residents to remain careful in the area.
