BB gun vandals shoot out windows at Saugus businesses

SAUGUS, Mass. -- North Shore businesses along Route 1 are cleaning up after being targeted by BB gun vandals.

Just before 9 p.m. Saturday, the vandals drove through a shopping center in Saugus firing multiple shots and breaking windows on a Friendly’s restaurant and a Supercuts.

Jacqui Leclair is the assistant manager at Friendly’s and said two customers who were leaving at the time ran back inside when they heard the shots.

“They could hear it going off they ran inside they thought they were being shot at,” she said. “I’m sure people don’t want to go to Friendly’s and get shot at by bb guns.”

The shopping plaza is located on Broadway near Route 1.

“They might think it’s fun but it’s not…it’s scary it’s ridiculous…you could really hurt somebody,” Leclair said.

Just a few businesses over, employees at Supercuts showed up to work Sunday morning to find their front window shot out too.

“It’s Christmastime, now we have to pay x amount of money to get our window or car windows or Friendly’s windows they don’t think about that stuff anymore nobody’s got respect,” Supercuts manager Rachael Penta said.

Saugus Police told Boston 25 News they have a hunch that those responsible got right on to Route 1 and took off. Nobody got a good look at the suspects or the getaway vehicle and despite all of the businesses there is now security footage of the incident.
