Aunts seeking to block Nathan Carman from fortune

The family of a Vermont man whose mom disappeared while they were on a fishing trip is filing a petition to declare him a killer. But now, a judge says that might be premature.

Nathan Carman and his mother, Linda, went on a fishing trip together off Martha’s Vineyard last summer. Crews went searching for them after they did not return. A week later, Nathan was found by the Coast Guard, but his mother was never found. She is presumed dead.

Carman’s aunts want to accuse him of killing his grandfather and causing his mother’s disappearance to block him from a multimillion-dollar inheritance.

However, a judge has ruled he can’t act on that petition because Carman’s mother isn’t legally dead.

Carman denied doing anything to cause his mother’s disappearance and says he didn’t kill his grandfather.
