ATV, dirt bike thefts on the rise

Police say thieves are targeting ATVs and dirt bikes across the South Shore.

Last month, Boston 25 News reported on a rash of stolen bikes in Bridgewater.

Sean Roddy says thieves stole his prized ATV out of his fenced-in yard in Raynham Tuesday night while he and his family were home.

"It's crazy, right into my backyard and took it, right out from under my nose it was gone," said Roddy.

The owner of a local motocross track says he has a pretty good idea why so many motorcycles are being stolen. He believes it has to do with the incident on the Expressway in late February where state troopers had to stop riders who were driving around in packs and disrupting traffic. Police seized about a dozen bikes and ATVs and made a handful of arrests.
