Annual 'Mustache March' raises funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association

HANSON, Mass. — The annual Mustache March event kicked off on Saturday afternoon to raise funds for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Boston 25 News anchor Kerry Kavanaugh joined others in Hanson to award firefighters across the area who have been growing out their facial hair for charity.

Award given included things such as "most distinguished mustache".

One prize was given out to the firefighter with the "most understanding wife".

"It's a lot of fun, it really is, and after you have a tough winter it makes it even more fun because there's a reason why we don't grow mustaches, as you can tell," said Abington Fire Department Captain Jack Glynn. "But, it's for a good cause, it brings attention to something that's really, really important."

One hundred percent of the money raised by the mustache march goes directly to the muscular dystrophy association.
