• After 45 years of spreading joy, Fitchburg Santa needs his own holiday cheer

    Updated:

FITCHBURG, Mass. – After 45 years of playing Santa Claus, many are hoping to return Christmas cheer to a Fitchburg man who is unable to put on the red suit this year.

Cheryl Stewart reached out to Boston 25 News about her Uncle Bud who has been playing Santa for decades at family and other functions in the Fitchburg and Leominster area.

However, Bud has been diagnosed with brain tumor and is now at an assisted living facility in Lancaster.

“I was 4 years old when he started playing Santa for me and my cousins. He played Santa for my sons and now my granddaughters,” she said.

The family is hoping to help Bud keep his holiday spirit up by having people send him “Dear Santa” letters.

    Letters can be sent to:

    Bernard (Bud) Goguen
River Terrace Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center
1675 Main St, Lancaster, MA. 01523
