9-year-old rescued from Androscoggin River, 5-year-old brother missing

AUBURN, ME — A 9-year-old was rescued from the Androscoggin River in Maine, and police are still searching for his 5-year-old brother.

The two brothers fell into the river off Main Street around 7 p.m. Tuesday night, Auburn Police say.

Auburn firefighters were able to rescue the 9-year-old boy from the water, and he was transported by life flight to Maine Medical Center.

Maine game wardens and surrounding agencies are looking for the 5-year-old on the water.

The cause of the incident and the 9-year-old's condition are both still unknown.
