80-year-old man killed in Andover fire, Essex DA investigating

ANDOVER, Mass. — An 80-year-old man was killed in a fire in Andover Thursday morning, according to the Essex County District Attorney’s Office.

The State Fire Marshal was called in to investigate the cause of the fire on Railroad Avenue.

It was first reported around 11 a.m. and Andover fire fighters responded to find the man in his apartment.

He was rushed to Lawrence General Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Essex DA announced the fire and his death are under investigation, but the man has not yet been identified.

No other injuries were reported in the fire, according to the DA.
