21-year-old accused of exposing himself near Northborough middle school

NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. — A man in Northborough has been arrested after being accused of exposing himself.

On Monday, Zachary Teplansky appeared in court one day after police say he was running around a Northborough middle school wearing a thong and exposing himself.

The 21-year-old, who prosecutors say has no criminal record, lives in the area.

Police say a local woman was walking her dog near Melican Middle School when she saw Teplansky doing laps in the parking lot. Police say at first, he had clothes on, but then started running at the woman.

A witness told police that Teplansky pulled the thong down and exposed himself at least two times.

Police say the woman ran across the street into someone's driveway and called 911. While on the phone with dispatch, she said the man kept running back and forth and she thought he was going to grab her.

When police arrived, they say Teplansky told them he was just jogging and then started saying "I plead the fifth" when asked follow-up questions.

The attorney for Teplansky says this is a case of mistaken identity.

"No prior record, a local high school graduate, went to UMass at that point in time he was out running and he was running in his own neighborhood. He lives close to this neighborhood," said attorney Mike Murray.

Teplansky was released after his father posted $1,000 cash bail. He was ordered to be put on GPS monitoring and stay away from the woman.
