BPD: Robbers hit woman with stolen Uber in attempt to flee Chinatown robbery

BOSTON – One man is in custody and another is on the run after allegedly stealing from a liquor store in Chinatown then attempting to steal an Uber and flee.

Police were called to the Wild Duck on Washington Street around 5:30 p.m. when the two men tried to steal a bottle of liquor but were chased out of the store.

In an effort to escape, they apparently hopped into an Uber that was unlocked and running with no one in it.

The men didn’t make it far though. Police said they hit a 21-year-old woman in a crosswalk, jumped the curb near Essex Street just outside the Chinatown MBTA station and crashed.

The driver then began to run toward the MBTA Chinatown Station and was chased by transit police. Jonathan Pagan is charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, assault and battery with a deadly weapon.

Police told Boston 25 News the woman who was hit was not seriously injured.
