2 arrested after man beaten to death with brick on Mother's Day

LYNN, Mass. — Two people have been arrested in connection with the fatal beating of a man in Lynn last Sunday.

Sergio Sanchez, 39, was walking on Blake Street with a 33-year-old Lynn man May 14 when they were assaulted by two other men, police said.

“I heard two guys yelling and screaming at each other,” a Lynn resident who witnessed the attack told Boston 25 News. “I only heard men's voices, you know, couple of drunk guys they're just going to go on their way.”

Police say the younger man called 911 as they were being attacked.

Sanchez was more seriously injured when he was beaten with a brick. He was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries and died the following day.

Investigators announced Friday morning that they arrested two people in connection with the fatal assault.

Werner Garcia Figueroa, 19 and Selvin F. Garcia, 23, both of Bassett Street in Lynn, were arrested.

They will be arraigned in Lynn District Court on charges of murder, armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
