An approaching cold front will bring the potential for scattered severe thunderstorms and localized flash flooding across interior Massachusetts and portions of northern Connecticut this afternoon and evening. The main time of concern will be from 2 to 10 pm this evening, with the greatest risk along and west of I-91. The main severe weather threat will be locally damaging wind gusts, but hail can not be ruled out with the strongest storms. An isolated tornado is also a possibility. Dangerous cloud to ground lightning will accompany some of these storms this afternoon and evening. Torrential rainfall may result in pockets of urban and localized flash flooding, perhaps having a significant impact on the evening commute. Please pay close attention to any watches or warnings that may be issued into this evening. Remember if you hear thunder you are close enough to get struck by lightning, so seek an indoor shelter immediately. $$
