The Flash Flood Watch continues for * Portions of northern Connecticut and Massachusetts, including the following areas, in northern Connecticut, Hartford and Tolland. In Massachusetts, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, Northern Middlesex, and Worcester. * From noon EDT today through late tonight * Numerous Showers and thunderstorms with areas of torrential rainfall will impact the region from mid afternoon into tonight. The time period of greatest concern is between 2 and 10 pm this evening. While the potential for localized flash flooding exists across the entire watch area, the highest risk appears to be west of I-91. * Localized rainfall rates in excess of 2 inches in less than an hour are possible. This will bring the potential for localized flash flooding, particularly west of I-91. Given the potential for these type of rainfall rate pockets of significant urban flooding is also a concern. This is especially if torrential rain sets up across the Hartford/Springfield Metro areas during the evening rush hour. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued. && $$
