Malini covered Aaron Hernandez's sentencing for the murder of Odin Lloyd and reported on Mr. Hernandez's death. She covered Dzhokhar Tsarnaev's sentencing for the Boston Marathon bombing and traveled to a West Virginia federal gun-tracing facility, reporting on the history of the murder weapon used by the Tsarnaevs. Malini was also on the front lines when East Boston police officers were caught in an intense shootout.
Prior to joining Boston 25 News, Malini spent three years at KHOU 11 in Houston, TX as a front line reporter. While in Houston, she covered breaking news and was dispatched to report on stories that made national headlines. Malini's assignments took her from the Gulf Coast to the Mexican Border to cover a number of high profile stories, including multiple hurricanes and tornadoes. Malini reported on the kidnapping of a young girl and was instrumental in her safe return to her family. She broke exclusive details on stories, including the nationwide manhunt for Isaac Tiharihondi.
While Malini joined Boston 25 News after a successful stint in Houston, she is no stranger to New England. She previously worked at NBC Connecticut and worked as an Anchor/ Reporter at WLNE in Providence, R.I. where she broke exclusive details about "Craigslist killer" Philip Markoff.
Malini started her reporting career near the Canadian border at WPTZ, in Plattsburgh, N.Y.
Malini has a B.A. in Communications and a minor in Business from St. John's University. She was born in Kolkata, India, and raised in Queens, N.Y. Malini speaks fluent Bengali and has spent several summers in Kolkata.
