Wizards beat Celtics 116-89 in Game 3

John Wall and Wizards win Game 3.  Celtics lead series 2-1

WASHINGTON, DC — Any thoughts of a sweep for the Celtics in this second round series with Washington are now gone.  On Thursday night at the Verizon Center in DC the Wizards totally dominated the Boston Celtics 116-89 to win game 3.

Like games one and two the Celtics fell behind by double digits early but this time there would be no comeback.  With the game tied at 12-12 the Wizards went on a 22-0 run and finished the first quarter leading 39-17.  In the three games in this series so far the Celtics have given up 38, 42 and 39 points in the three first quarters.

This game was also marked with an ejection for Washington forward Kelly Oubre Jr.  Oubre objected to a hard screen set by Kelly Olynyk and shoved Olynyk with a two hander.  Oubre was then ejected

Washington led at halftime 63-40.  isaiah Thomas was held to just 7 first half points. John Wall scored 12 points in the first half.

The Celtics started the third quarter without Isaiah Thomas.  Thomas was a minute late coming out for the second half because he had dental work being done on his injured tooth.

Thomas absence to start the 2nd half really didn't matter because Washington was determined to win this game.

The Wizards led by 26 after three quarters (95-69) and won going away.  Washington had six players who scored in double figures.  John Wall led all scorers with 24 points. He also had 8 assists.  Isaiah Thomas finished with just 13 points on 3-8 shooting.  He missed the only two three pointers he took.  Thomas also sat out the fourth quarter because this game was so out of reach for the Celtics.

Game four is scheduled to start at 6:30 on Sunday night in DC as the Celtics look to get back on track.  The Wizards will look to tie the series up with a win on Sunday.  Next Wednesday night the series will shift back to Boston for game 5.
