Tom and Butch break down Patriots win over Jets

DEDHAM — The Patriots do not make things easy on themselves and that certainly was the case on Sunday in the Meadowlands.  The Patriots beat the Jets 24-17 for their fourth win of the season but not without some sloppy play early and also from a fortunate call by referee Tony Corrente that negated a Jets touchdown

Led by quarterback Josh McCown the Jets torched the Patriots defense in the first half jumping out to a 14-0 lead on touchdown passes to tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins and to wide receiver Jeremy Kerley.

The Patriots came back in the 2nd quarter to tie the game at 14 with two touchdowns of their own.  Dion Lewis ran one in from the one yard line and Rob Gronkowski caught a two yard touchdown pass with 9 seconds left in the half.

Gronk caught another touchdown in the third quarter that ended up being the game winning score.  The 33 yard touchdown catch put the Patriots up 21-14.

With 8:30 to go in the game and the Patriots leading 24-14 Josh McCown completed a pass to Jenkins that was ruled a touchdown.  But after review it was ruled that Jenkins was juggling the ball as he went over the goal line and the call was reversed.

The Patriots held on for the 24-17 win.
