PORT ST LUCIE — Tim Tebow, wearing #97 as he made his MLB Spring Training debut, went 0-3 with two strikeouts as the Mets beat the Red Sox 8-7 Wednesday afternoon.

Rick Porcello struck out Tebow in the third inning, one of four strikouts on the afternoon for Porcello.

Porcello was hit on his pitching hand by a ground ball hit by Yoenis Cespedes in the fourth inning. He finished the inning, but did surrender a home run to Jay Bruce immediately after the hit by Cespedes.

After the Red Sox scored four runs in the top of the fourth to take a 4-1 lead, the Mets rallied to tie the game in the bottom half of the inning.

Tebow faced Noe Ramirez with the bases loaded in the fourth and grounded into a double play, bringing home a run to make it 4-4. He was not credited with an RBI.

The Mets scored one run in the fifth off Ramirez and three runs in the sixth off Brian Johnson, who hit Tebow with a pitch to load the bases. Tebow was promptly doubled off first base on a line drive to Deven Marrero.

Allen Craig homered in the seventh inning to draw the Red Sox within two.

Tebow, facing Brandon Workman in the eighth inning, struck out looking again, to finish the day 0-3.
