Super Bowl

Super Bowl snack: football cookie cake

If you want to impress your friends on Super Bowl Sunday, but have limited cooking skills, this is the recipe for you.

INGREDIENTS:

You can pick your favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. If you don't have one or it's beyond your skills, pick up some premade dough from the store. We have a suggestion below for more of a "cake" texture from Sally's Baking Addiction.

3/4 c unsalted butter, softened

1 cup brown sugar

1 large egg

2 tsp vanilla

2 cups flour

2 tsp cornstarch

1 tsp baking soda

1/2 tsp salt

1.5 cup chocolate chips

Frosting ingredients:

2 cups powdered sugar

1/2 cup buttered, softened

1 tbl milk

1 tsp vanilla

1/4 chocolate chips, melted

Directions:

1. If you are making the cookie dough, using a hand mixer, blend the butter, brown sugar, egg yolk and vanilla together.

2. In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda and salt. Add to the butter-sugar mixture. Blend slowly, and then user the mixer to fully blend.

3. Add the chocolate chips and combine using hands or a spoon.

4. Using a greased cookie sheet, put the cookie dough on top and shape into a football. The cookie should not be too thick. Then, put in the oven for 15 minutes on 375 or until lightly brown.

5. While the cookie is baking, make the frosting. Using a mixer, blend the sugar, butter, vanilla and milk until fully mixed. Then, take out at least 1/2 c of frosting and set aside for the white laces. You can set aside more if you want to do more designs.

6. Add in the melted chocolate, and then mix again until fully blended.

7. After the cookie is done, take out and cool completely. Then, frost the cookie, first with the chocolate frosting. Put the white frosting in a ziploc bag with the tip cut off, and then frost the laces.

8. Enjoy and watch the Super Bowl this Sunday on FOX25!
