Sister of Celtics player Isaiah Thomas dies in car crash

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — The sister of the Celtics star Isaiah Thomas was killed in a car crash on I-5 in Washington state Saturday.

Chyna Thomas, 22, died at the scene of the crash, which happened around 5 a.m. in Federal Way, which is south of Seattle, reports KIRO-TV

Washington State Patrol said witnesses reported the car weaved off the roadway and hit a barrier, launching it into a sign post. The State Patrol reported that Chyna Thomas was not wearing her seat belt.

Isaiah Thomas is a point guard for the Boston Celtics and is originally from Washington state, playing for the University of Washington during college.

The Celtics are scheduled to play the Chicago Bulls in the NBA playoffs Sunday in Boston.

The Celtics released the following statement:

"We are terribly saddened by the tragic loss of Chyna Thomas. The thoughts and prayers of the entire Celtics organization are with Isaiah and his family."
