Pedroia, Sox looking ahead after tense weekend

Dissension in the Red Sox clubhouse? Not if you ask Dustin Pedroia.

"We all have each other's backs," said Pedroia in the clubhouse, hours before a series with the Yankees was about to start. Tuesday’s game was eventually postponed and re-scheduled for July 16.

If you saw Boston's game against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday, camaraderie in the Sox clubhouse wasn’t a given.

TV cameras showed Pedroia yelling, "It's not me, it's them," to Manny Machado after Pedroia's teammate Matt Barnes threw a pitch that nearly hit Machado in the head. Barnes’ pitch was retaliation for Machado's slide into second base that injured Pedroia days earlier.

Barnes is appealing a four-game suspension he received for throwing the pitch near Machado’s head.

Pedroia's comments have been interpreted as him not backing Barnes or his teammates, but Pedroia assured everyone it's now water under the bridge.

"We talked about that. We feel good about each other," Pedroia said. "We're turning the page and I'm sure the Orioles are too."

The Sox will look to keep this all behind them as they take on the New York Yankees this week at Fenway Park.
