FOXBORO — The Patriots' might be losing their third starting quarterback due to a torn ligament in his thumb, according to reports.
Sources told WEEI, a second half injury resulted in a torn right thumb ligament for Jacoby Brissett. However, a later report indicated it may not be a serious injury.
Brissett stepped into the starting role in the wake of an injury to Jimmy Garappolo; who, in turn, stepped in to cover for Tom Brady as he serves his four game Deflategate suspension.
Brissett had a 27-yard touchdown run finished the night 11 of 19 for 103 yards, and ran eight times for 48 yards.
After playing Thursday night, the Patriots have 10 days before their next game on Sunday, Oct. 2.
