Patriots' Andrew Hawkins announces retirement

FOXBORO — Patriots wide receiver Andrew Hawkins, who was signed as a free agent during the offseason, announced Tuesday he is stepping away from the game and will ultimately donate his brain for scientific assessment upon his death.

Hawkins made the announcement via the Uninterrupted twitter page.

Hawkins spent three seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and three seasons with the Cleveland Browns, catching 209 passes for 2,419 yards and nine touchdowns.
