Fournette jokes about ruined $50,000 bumper, says ankle is 'lot better'

Leonard Fournette, the rookie Jaguars running back who played a big part in their surge to the top of the AFC South, downplayed his nagging ankle injury during his Thursday media availability.

Fournette, who turned 23 on Thursday, said the ankle "has gotten a lot better since the last game."

Fournette rushed for 109 yards -- his fifth 100-yard game of the season -- in Jacksonville's 45-42 upset at Pittsburgh last Sunday.

He was uninjured in a Tuesday car accident on I-295 in Jacksonville. Fournette's 2017 Maybach was rear-ended, causing his bumper to fall off. Fournette autographed the bumper for first responders.

"Yeah he did (ask for it)," Fourtnette said. "I wasn’t worried about it because the bumper was on the ground and I was in the car waiting for the police to come.

He came out of nowhere and was like, can you sign this for me? You want me to sign a bumper? And he was like yeah and I was like whatever, it was cool.”

Fournette shrugged off the accident but said he was looking forward to getting his car out of the shop. Fournette said he wasn't sure how much damage was caused to the car.

“I don’t know. The bumper is like $50,000 by itself," Fournette said.
